TechSoup Asia is live in Thailand! We officially launched at the Microsoft NGO Connection Day in Bangkok on May 29, 2012. It was a packed house of NGOs who came to hear about the TechSoup launch, as well to learn more about Microsoft's products and programs for nonprofits.
The TechSoup launch was introduced by Mike Yeaton, Vice President of TechSoup Asia. Mike explained how NGOs in Thailand can now qualify for donated software from Microsoft, Symantec and SAP for a nominal adminstrative fee. He also talked about TechSoup's vision of a technology support centre in Bangkok, and a regional technology conference for NGOs in Hong Kong.
Following Mike, Klaikong Vaidhyakarn from Change Fusion introduced NetSquared Bangkok, a forum for NGOs and others to develop their ideas for using technology for social good.
Other speakers at the event included Mr. Birathon Kasemsri Na Ayudhay, Managing Director, Microsoft Thailand, and Ms. Clair Deevy, Citizenship Lead, Microsoft Asia Pacific.
To qualify for donations in Thailand, NGOs should follow the instructions <here>. You must have one of the following certificates available:
- Thailand Revenue Department, Ministry of Finance, stating the organization’s charitable status for income tax purposes; or
- Office of the National Commission of Social Welfare, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, stating the organization’s charitable status
We were delighted with our reception in Thailand, with over 30 organizations registering the first day! We look forward to working with all of you to promote NGOs and empower them through the use of technology.
